Senior Manager Accounts Payable

 

The Senior Manager Accounts Payable will be responsible for managing the operational functions and activities of a fast-paced, high-volume Accounts Payable Department ensuring work requirements are performed in a timely and accurate manner; establishing and maintaining efficient and effective processes; and providing exemplary internal and external customer service as a representative of the company. The Senior Manager Accounts Payable will be expected to become a valuable mentor and leader to our diverse Accounts Payable Team by providing clear communication and instruction or training when needed and should possess leadership skills that empower and engage the team.

 

This position reports to the Director of Accounting and will lead a team of up to 14 people, including both direct and indirect reports.

 

This position is expected to be in the Scottsdale AZ office Monday through Friday.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership for the entirety of the Accounts Payable team, including evaluating the performance of direct reports and mentoring employees, managing team productivity, accuracy and quality in processing vendor invoices and timely payments
  • Lead implementation of, and assist in creation of, efficient processes for daily and monthly tasks and reviews
  • Perform regular analysis of metrics and team stats to find continual improvements in productivity
  • Provide necessary information to the accounting team related to vendor expenses, coding issues, accruals, etc as related to review of financials and month-end close
  • Understand the underlying issues and lead/assist the team in investigating researching correct GL coding, purchase order variances, invoice issues, and partner with other departments as appropriate
  • Become a trusted business partner for other departments and management within the company
  • Be a strong liaison in systems implementations and actively drive team engagement in these projects
  • Ensure SOX compliance within the areas of AP internal controls and separation of duties; participate in walkthroughs and provide audit support
  • Perform month-end reviews of AP Aging and GRIR and prepare/review reconciliations as assigned
  • Lead/support the team in the research and resolution of complex invoice processing discrepancies, payment issues, duplicate payments and other areas of concern as they arise
  • Identify issues and possible resolutions and bring forward to management as appropriate
  • Partner closely with Director of Accounting, Corporate Controller, and others on corporate initiatives as required
  • Initiate and lead year-end planning (vendor annual reviews, 1099 filings, etc)
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to Accounts Payable
  • Ad-hoc projects as required, and any other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

  • 10+ years progressive accounts payable experience
  • Full P2P end-to-end working knowledge required
  • Leadership experience required
  • SAP experience required
  • Prior system implementation experience preferred
  • Experience with AP automation software required
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability to analyze data and/or read communications and draw appropriate conclusions while identifying issues to be resolved and/or to bring forward to management
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Self-directed and able to work both independently and in a team environment with multiple competing demands

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience.   A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency should arise.
