Willie Nelson is nothing but legendary. The musician and cannabis advocate has won several lifetime achievement awards. The latest in his catalog will be on Dec. 7, when he will rightfully receive the 2021 Cilo Cannabis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nelson won an award from the Recording Academy in 1999 and another from the Country Music Association in 2012, who actually named the award after him. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1993, received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1998, and the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize in 2015.

With all that under his belt, we feel that the newest Cilo Cannabis Lifetime Achievement Award will mean just as much as the other prestigious awards. Nelson is beloved in the cannabis community, especially since he was one of the few celebrities that would praise cannabis for its health benefits. 88 years old and still kicking; it’s clear he knew what he was talking about.

He’s also collaborated with other artists to create songs about his love for cannabis alongside names like Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson, and Jamey Johnson. According to a statement released by Cilo Cannabis, they noted that Nelson was selected to receive the award for his “decades-long reputation for advocating the plant’s healing powers,” bringing useful information to the mainstream and innovating in the business field.

Not only has Nelson’s team been effectively introducing marijuana and hemp-based wellness products like Willie’s Reserve and Willie’s Remedy, but he’s also launched a new cannabis conference called Luck Summit: Planting the Seed.

Other honorees include Fab 5 Freddy, Mary Pryor, and Ophelia Chong. All awards will be presented during the 2021 Cilo Cannabis Awards, streaming on Social Club TV on Dec. 7.

In 1988, Fab 5 Freddy became the first host of Yo! MTV Raps. He will receive the 2021 Cilo Cannabis honorary award for his work of educating the public about cannabis prohibition within the 2019 Netflix documentary Grass Is Greener. He’s recognized for his dedication to giving those incarcerated for cannabis crimes opportunities to thrive in the new and improved industry.

Pryor and Chong will be presented with the 2021 Cilo Cannabis impact awards. Pryor, the co-founder of Cannaclusive, focuses on inclusive marketing and business support while promoting the fair representation of minority cannabis consumers. Chong is the founder of Stock Pot Images and Asian Americans for Cannabis Education, which helps spark positive conversation around cannabis and psilocybin legalization.
