House of Gucci actor Jared Leto was allegedly “hustling” since he was a kid. During his appearance on The Ellen Show on Wednesday, Leto, 49, spoke about kids going to movie theaters again when discussing the new film House of Gucci.
Leto then remembered a time when he was fired from a movie theater after getting caught selling marijuana during his shift. More specifically, he got “fired for selling weed out the back door,” adding that he was an “entrepreneur.”
Ellen joked with Leto, saying that he was hustling; she asked what’s wrong with trying to “sell popcorn and weed at the same time?” Leto replied humorously, “They go well together, some say.”
Leto has quite the history with marijuana; in 2019, he told New York’s magazine The Cut about what smells he loved the most and how he knew what weed smelled like from a young age.
He loves the smell of “campfire and fire crackling,” charismatically explaining the smoke burning the embers and how it’s a “primal and powerful” smell. Later, he recalled the smell of weed as a kid, saying there were “a lot of hippies” back in his day.
In 2014, Leto told The Dallas Buyers Club about his first job. He explained that it was between “selling weed and working at a barbecue restaurant as a dishwasher.”
He added that the restaurant paid him $2.50 an hour, but he was happy to have a job. When it came to his weed-selling side hustle, he said “it could have paid better than dishwashing,” but his only problem was breaking the golden rule, never get high on your own supply.
