Illinois Cannabis Sales Stall in May

Illinois adult-use cannabis sales in May were up a bit sequentially to $100.0 million, but this gain of 0.6% was less than the expansion of the number of days by 3.3%. The gain was 2.3% from a year ago:

After increasing 106% in 2021 and then 13% in 2022, year-to-date adult-use sales are up 3.9% in the first five months to $648.0 million.

During May, sales to non-residents were similar to April’s level at 24.7%:

The state separately releases sales from its medical program, and the release for May was also published today. Sales fell 2.0% sequentially to $27.5 million, which was down 9% from a year ago:

For May, combined adult-use and medical sales totaled $160.2 million, which wasup 0.1% sequentially and 0.2% from a year ago:

Total sales of $786.8 million are up 1% year-to-date.
