Comedian Bill Maher appears to have reignited a disagreement with Steve-O over smoking cannabis during a podcast appearance, accusing the Jackass star of taking shots at him.

Steve-O previously said he had been asked to go on Club Random but declined, saying he was upset when host Maher refused to refrain from his usual pot-smoking while interviewing his subjects on the podcast.

The Real Time with Bill Maher presenter, 68, appeared to reignite the spat during the latest installment of Club Random, featuring skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. He claimed that from his perspective there was "no feud" between himself and Steve-O—real name Stephen Gilchrist Glover—but said if you have a problem with the pot-smoking then "you can't be here."

Steve-O, 50, has been sober for almost 16 years, with his early recovery previously documented in the 2009 MTV special Demise And Rise.

"This Steve-O guy was taking shots at me," Maher said, before laughing when Hawk branded it "unfortunate."

Maher continued: "I don't want to start a feud and I'm sorry that he felt slighted or something, but it's ridiculous that somebody thinks I should give up pot-smoking because they have a problem.

"Then I'm sorry, you can't be here. It's my show, my house, my rules, and it's sort of almost the point of the show."

Maher went on: "This is shooting the s*** and this is how I shoot the s***. This is an attempt to get conversation as real as it ever is.

"I have no feud—I've watched all the [Jackass] movies, they are funny."

Newsweek has reached out to Steve-O via email for comment.

Steve-O previously had his say via his own podcast, Wild Ride, in April while explaining his decision not to take part in the show.

He said: "Really, there's nothing I value more than my sobriety. There's nothing more that I protect than my recovery.

"I found it kind of upsetting when the Bill Maher podcast reached out and he smokes pot the whole time while he interviews people.

"I said I'd happily go on there, but while I'm on, out of respect for my sobriety, could he refrain from smoking pot. He said no and that's a deal-breaker."

Steve-O has been open about his addiction to drugs including nitrous oxide, ketamine, cocaine, and alcohol, and hitting "rock bottom".

Club Random launched in March 2022 and has featured guests including William Shatner, Mike Tyson, Lisa Kudrow, and Leslie Jones.
