Missouri Division of Cannabis Regulation Announces Two Marijuana Product Recalls Due to Labeling and Packaging Concerns

Key Points
    Error internal

The first recall involves products manufactured by Honey Green, LLC (license MAN000044). According to DCR, the affected items were inadvertently labeled with incorrect product information, making it impossible for regulators to confirm that the products meet Missouri’s health and safety requirements. While no adverse health effects have been reported, the DCR advises patients and consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately. Unused items may be discarded or returned to the dispensary where they were purchased. A full list of affected products is available at health.mo.gov/safety/cannabis/recalls.php.

The second recall involves marijuana products from 1913 Carrollton Manufacturing LLC (license MAN000010). In this case, the issue stems from product packaging that closely resembles non-marijuana products, raising concerns about the risk of accidental consumption—particularly by children. DCR regulations prohibit marijuana items from being packaged in a way that could be confused with non-marijuana goods. Additionally, the packaging used had not been submitted to or approved by the state as required. Like the Honey Green recall, there have been no reports of adverse reactions. Consumers are encouraged to return any unused product to the dispensary of purchase, where it will not count against their purchase limits.

Both recalls were issued under state rule 19 CSR 100-1.100(4)(P), which allows for public notices when a product presents a potential threat to health and safety.

The DCR and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) remind consumers of several key guidelines for safe marijuana use. These include not using marijuana while pregnant, avoiding driving under the influence, and keeping all marijuana products—especially edibles—secure and out of reach of minors. Edibles, in particular, present unique risks as their effects may take up to two hours to be felt, potentially leading to overconsumption and accidental poisoning.

Anyone experiencing adverse effects from marijuana products should seek medical attention and report the incident to the state by emailing CannabisComplaints@health.mo.gov or submitting a complaint through the DHSS website. Concerns about accidental ingestion, especially in children or pets, should be directed to the Missouri Poison Center at 800-222-1222 or to 911 in the event of an emergency.
