Maine Marijuana Sales Top $20 Million in May, Most Since October, Bringing 2025 Total to Almost $100 Million

The state saw 410,716 marijuana transactions last month, with the average price per gram of flower at $6.67—up slightly from April’s record low of $6.63. Of the total revenue, $11.7 million came from “usable cannabis” products such as flower and prerolls.

Concentrates accounted for $5.8 million, infused products like edibles and drinks brought in $3 million, and the remainder came from immature plants. With May’s numbers added, Maine has now generated $96,917,402 in adult-use marijuana sales between January and May 2025, across 4,970,963 transactions.

Maine voters legalized recreational marijuana in 2016, and licensed sales began in October 2020. The state applies a 10% sales tax on adult-use marijuana purchases, in addition to excise taxes on certain products. Proceeds from these taxes support local governments, public health initiatives, and the state’s general fund.
