Mike Tyson Optimistic About Marijuana Rescheduling, Says it’s “More Possible” Under Current Administration

Tyson’s comments came in an interview with The Dales Report just as he and a group of professional athletes and entertainers—calling themselves the “Coalition of Athletes and Entertainers Supporting President Trump’s Policy Objectives”—sent a letter to former President Donald Trump urging further cannabis reform. The coalition includes NBA stars Kevin Durant and Allen Iverson, NFL players Ricky Williams, Dez Bryant, and Antonio Brown, as well as musician Wyclef Jean.

The letter calls for marijuana to be moved from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act, expanded banking access for marijuana businesses, and clemency for those still incarcerated over nonviolent marijuana offenses.

Tyson said he believes Trump is better positioned to finish what he started on cannabis reform, adding that people close to him—like Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba—are “very acquainted” with the issue.
