Maryland Cannabis Sales Reach $578 Million in 2025, Up 4% From Same Period in 2024
Although slightly below the record-breaking $102.7 million sold in May, June’s total remains one of the highest since adult-use sales began in July 2023. Adult-use purchases continued to dominate, with flower once again leading all product categories at $55 million in sales. Concentrates followed at $29 million, while edibles accounted for $11.7 million. The remainder came from other products such as tinctures, topicals, and capsules. The $578 million sold in the first half of 2025 is a 4% increase over the $556 million sold during the same period in 2024.
The average price per gram in June was $8.40, a modest dip from May’s $8.57.
Maryland voters approved marijuana legalization in 2022, with adult-use sales launching the following summer. Recreational marijuana purchases are subject to a 9% state tax, with municipalities authorized to tack on an additional 3%. Medical marijuana remains exempt from taxation.
Revenue from marijuana sales is directed toward several public initiatives, including the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund, school construction, substance misuse prevention, and regulatory oversight. The Maryland Cannabis Administration is responsible for licensing and monitoring the state’s legal marijuana industry.
