Verano President Darren Weiss Resigns, Will Remain as International Consultant

Weiss originally joined Verano in 2017 as general counsel. Over the years, he moved into key leadership roles including chief legal officer, chief operating officer, and ultimately president. During his tenure, he played a major role in helping the company grow from a startup into a vertically integrated operator spanning 13 states. Although Weiss is leaving his executive post, he won’t be cutting ties with the company entirely. He will continue working with Verano in a consulting capacity on international business development. As part of the arrangement, Verano will retain a right of first refusal on new business opportunities Weiss initiates or is involved in abroad.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Darren for his leadership and many contributions over the course of his tenure with Verano,” said CEO George Archos. “We are grateful for Darren’s many years of distinguished service and…wish him and his family all the best.”

In a statement, Weiss called his eight years at Verano “some of the most rewarding of my life,” adding that he looks forward to the next chapter of his career and continued collaboration with the company.
