Canada Cannabis Sales Reach CA$485 Million in July, Third-Highest Since Legalization, Year-to-Date Now at CA$3.12 Billion

That makes July the third-highest monthly total since nationwide legalization in 2018, following December 2023 and August 2024. The new figures bring year-to-date sales for 2025 to CA$3.12 billion, reflecting steady growth in consumer demand through the first seven months of the year. Ontario once again accounted for the largest share of sales, reaching CA$189 million in July. Alberta followed with CA$86.3 million, while British Columbia reported CA$65.2 million and Quebec CA$70.2 million. Combined, those four provinces were responsible for over 86% of nationwide cannabis revenue in July.

The numbers demonstrate both the resilience and expansion of Canada’s marijuana market nearly seven years after legalization. With more than 4,150 licensed retailers now operating across the country, consumers continue to support strong and consistent demand. Federal rules allow adults to purchase marijuana products and grow up to four plants at home, with sales subject to both provincial and federal taxation.

Industry analysts note that Canada has now surpassed CA$480 million in sales for three consecutive months, a streak unmatched in the history of legalization. If the current trajectory holds, 2025 could be another record-setting year for Canada’s legal marijuana industry.
