57% of New York Adult-Use Cannabis Licenses Held by Social Equity Applicants 

New York now has 1,904 adult-use cannabis license holders, 57% of which are held by Social and Economic Equity licensees. In September, the state approved 46 additional adult-use licenses, including 14 processor, 12 dispensary, eight cultivator, four distributors, and four microbusiness. The state also finalized four licenses approved under its conditional adult-use license program.  

In a statement, Jessica García, chair of the Cannabis Control Board (CCB), said the agency’s “work extends far beyond issuing licenses and setting regulations, it’s about shaping a cannabis industry that truly reflects the values of New York.”

During their September meeting, the CCB also approved a measure to extend all provisional conditional adult-use licenses and provisional adult-use licenses until December 31, 2026, in an effort “to address confusion around varying expiration timelines.” 

So far this year, adult-use cannabis sales have totaled $1.06 billion through the state’s 464 licensed dispensaries.
