Of the total, $17,876,211 came from adult-use sales and $5,642,652 from medical marijuana purchases. Together, this brings the state’s combined marijuana sales for the year to $209,280,394, marking steady growth as the market heads into the final quarter of 2025. The average retail price for dried marijuana dropped to $8.68 per gram in September, the lowest recorded since sales began and nearly 25% lower than the $11.36 average in September 2024 (despite this drop, sales in September 2025 were slightly above the previous year).

Adult-use continues to make up the majority of sales each month, though medical marijuana remains an important part of the market, serving patients with qualifying conditions. While medical sales have decreased compared to last year, the program continues to provide tax-free access for patients who rely on marijuana as part of their treatment.

Connecticut legalized marijuana in 2021, with retail sales beginning in January 2023. Adults 21 and older can legally purchase and possess up to 1.5 ounces in public, keep up to five ounces at home, and grow as many as six plants for personal use. Recreational purchases are taxed at the state’s 6.35% sales tax rate plus a potency-based excise tax, while medical marijuana sales remain exempt from taxation.
