Arkansas Medical Marijuana Patient Count Reaches 100,761

Voters approved the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, known as Issue 6, in November 2016. The law created a statewide program allowing qualified patients with a physician’s recommendation to purchase and use medical marijuana. After a lengthy regulatory rollout, the state’s first dispensary opened in Hot Springs in May 2019.

Since then, the program has seen steady growth. As of September, Arkansas had reported nearly $200 million in medical marijuana sales for 2025, with total sales since launch surpassing $1.5 billion. The market is served by a limited number of cultivators and dispensaries, licensed and overseen by state regulators.

The latest patient count reflects continued demand across the state, which has one of the largest active medical programs in the South. With more than 110.5k patients now enrolled, Arkansas is positioned to see another record year for medical marijuana sales as the program heads into its seventh year of retail operations.
