The University of Lynchburg is partnering with cannabis education company Green Flower for new online Cannabis Career Certificate programs, WSET reports. The programs include cannabis cultivation, product development, retail and sales, compliance, and medical cannabis.

The Virginia college already offers The Business of Cannabis and Cannabis Product Development & Design courses, which run for eight weeks, and 16-week courses including Cannabis Cultivation Specialist, Cannabis Product Development Specialist, Cannabis Retail & Sales Specialist, Cannabis Compliance Specialist, and Medical Cannabis Specialist.

John A. Zinn III, executive director of the Professional Development Institute, told WSET that the college has “seen the strongest interest in medical and healthcare-focused cannabis courses, which aligns with the University of Lynchburg’s strengths in health sciences and medical education.”

According to the university’s website, the eight-week Cannabis Associate Certificate courses run $1,900 each. The first cohort begins January 13 with new sessions every eight weeks.

According to Green Flower’s website, the company currently partners with more than 25 universities and colleges for cannabis certificate programs.

In 2024, the University of Lynchburg became the first institution in Virginia to launch a professional certificate in cannabis education.
