Maryland Marijuana Sales Top $1.17 Billion in 2025, December Posts Second-Highest Month on Record

Maryland’s legal marijuana market closed out 2025 with one of its strongest months on record, posting $102,646,893 in total sales during December, according to new data released by the Cannabis Administration. The figure marks the second-highest monthly total since legalization, trailing only May 2025, when sales narrowly reached about $102.7 million. December’s performance pushed Maryland’s full-year marijuana sales total to approximately $1.174 billion, underscoring the continued strength of the state’s adult-use and medical markets more than a year after recreational sales launched. Monthly sales have remained consistently elevated throughout the year, with December’s showing reinforcing the market’s ability to sustain high consumer demand even outside of peak summer months.

While sales volumes remained strong, prices continued a downward trend. The average price per gram in 2025 stood at $8.28, reflecting an 8% decline from the roughly $9 average recorded a year earlier. The ongoing drop in prices mirrors trends seen in other mature marijuana markets, where expanded supply, increased competition, and greater market efficiency tend to place downward pressure on retail costs.

Lower prices have helped broaden consumer access while maintaining overall revenue growth through higher transaction volume. State data also show that both adult-use and medical marijuana continue to contribute meaningfully to overall sales, with adult-use purchases accounting for the majority of market activity.

With more than $1.17 billion in sales generated in 2025 alone, Maryland’s marijuana market has firmly established itself as one of the most robust in the region. As 2026 begins, the combination of strong demand, competitive pricing, and a stable regulatory framework positions the state for another year of substantial marijuana sales.
