Cannabis recall due to heavy metal expanded to more products
- A cannabis product recall was initially issued on January 13 for one lot of Lunaire 3.5 gram cannabis flower due to heavy metal contamination exceeding Health Canada's safety limits.
- Health Canada expanded the recall on February 3 to include seven additional lots of Lunaire Fleur de Lune dried cannabis and pre-rolls, all containing arsenic levels above the acceptable limit.
- The recall affects multiple product lines sold in Quebec, Yukon, and via a national medical cannabis platform, totaling 2,916 units sold between July 17, 2024, and January 29, 2026.
- Despite the contamination, no complaints or adverse reactions have been reported so far by consumers or medical users, according to Great White North Growers Inc. and Health Canada.
A recent cannabis product recall has now been updated to add seven new lots due to heavy metal contamination.
The SQDC first issued a recall on January 13 for one lot of a 3.5 gram cannabis flower SKU from cannabis brand Lunaire due to “a contaminant level exceeding Health Canada’s regulatory limit, which may pose a health risk.”
On January 15, Health Canada issued their own recall notice for this product, stating that the affected lot contains arsenic, a toxic heavy metal, at levels above the acceptable limit. Then, on February 3, Health Canada issued a new product recall notice for seven other lots of Lunaire Fleur de Lune dried cannabis and cannabis pre-rolls sold in Quebec and Yukon, as well as through a national medical cannabis platform.
Those lots are Certain Lunaire Nouvelle Lune, Eclipse Lunaire, Fleur de Lune, Joints de Titan, and Les Gros CBDs dried cannabis and pre-rolls. Like the initial lot, Health Canada says the affected lots contain arsenic, a toxic heavy metal, at levels above the acceptable limit.
The recall was started after cannabis producer Great White North Growers Inc. conducted its own additional non-routine testing on one of the recalled product lots.
A total of 2,916 units of the recalled products were sold from July 17, 2024, to January 29, 2026, through authorized retailers in Quebec and the Yukon.
In addition, there were 120 units of the recalled product Lunaire Fleur de Lune dried cannabis (3.5 g; lot 1000765B; packaging date 11 NO 2024) that were sold to medical clients through Médicibis.
To date, Great White North Growers Inc. and Health Canada have not received any complaints or adverse reaction reports about the recalled lots.
