Minnesota Cannabis Regulators to Launch Statewide Listening Tour Next Month Ahead of Expanded Adult-Use Market
- Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management will launch a statewide "Connecting with Community" listening tour starting March 12 to engage the public as the adult-use marijuana market expands.
- Initial stops include Pine County, Cloquet, and a public session in Duluth on March 13 at Lake Superior College, where community input on cannabis policies and market opportunities will be collected.
- The tour involves meetings with local officials, Tribal Nations, businesses, and community groups to provide updates and gather feedback to guide future cannabis policy development.
- The listening tour supports Minnesota’s ongoing efforts since adult-use marijuana legalization in 2023 to adapt the licensing and regulatory framework based on evolving community and market needs.
Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management will begin a statewide listening tour next month as regulators prepare for continued expansion of the state’s adult-use marijuana market. The agency announced that its “Connecting with Community” tour will officially kick off March 12, with initial stops in Pine County and Cloquet, followed by a public listening session in Duluth on March 13. The event will be held at Lake Superior College from 3 to 4:15 p.m., with media availability beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The tour is designed to gather input from Minnesotans on cannabis policy, the rollout of adult-use marijuana sales, and emerging opportunities for consumers, license holders and local communities as more marijuana businesses open across the state.
According to the Office of Cannabis Management, staff will travel throughout Minnesota over the coming months, hosting open public meetings and engaging directly with local government officials, Tribal Nations, grant recipients, marijuana and hemp businesses, and community organizations. The effort is intended to both provide updates on the agency’s progress and collect feedback that will help shape future cannabis policy priorities.
Executive Director Eric Taubel will represent the agency at the Duluth event and is expected to meet with local media prior to the public session.
Minnesota legalized adult-use marijuana in 2023, and regulators have spent the past several years building out the licensing and oversight framework for cultivators, manufacturers and retailers. As additional businesses begin operating statewide, regulators say the listening tour will help ensure the program evolves in line with community needs and market realities.
Additional tour stops and public events are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
