Last Friday, Ohio regulators issued a Class II product recall for certain cannabis gummies manufactured by Marichron Pharma LLC after determining that individual servings were not marked with the required universal THC symbol.
According to the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC), the recall affects multiple varieties of Ozone Soft Chews packaged between September 5, 2025 and February 11, 2026, and sold between September 14, 2025 and February 17, 2026.
The issue was not related to potency, contamination, or formulation. Instead, regulators found that some edible servings were “not identifiable as a cannabis product” because they lacked the universal THC symbol required on each individual gummy.
Ohio rules mandate that every serving carry the symbol to ensure cannabis products are clearly identifiable and to reduce the risk of accidental ingestion. The DCC stated the recall was appropriate because an individual — particularly a child — consuming an unstamped serving may be unaware it contains THC. According to the recall, “No adverse health events have been reported.”
Affected products were sold through licensed Ascend Dispensary locations across Ohio, including Carroll, Coshocton, Cincinnati, Piqua, Sandusky, and Englewood.
Regulators have placed a hold on all impacted inventory to prevent further distribution. The DCC has advised consumers who purchased Ozone Soft Chews within the affected date range to check the product ID and return any gummies lacking a visible THC symbol for a refund. However, it may be more practical for any concerned parents to simply store all of their cannabis consumables in a container that is clearly labeled, out of reach of their children.
For operators, this recall highlights how cannabis remains subject to uniquely stringent compliance standards, and how even technical deviations that pose little real-world risk can still trigger costly enforcement action.
