Texas Original has announced the opening of five new locations across Texas, expanding access to medical marijuana for patients enrolled in the state’s Compassionate Use Program. The expansion includes two satellite facilities in Plano and San Antonio, along with three new pickup locations in Lubbock, Nacogdoches and Tyler. According to the company, the additions will serve an estimated market of more than 14,000 patients by bringing medical marijuana closer to communities that previously required longer travel distances.
Satellite locations differ from traditional pickup sites in that they are authorized to store medical marijuana inventory onsite. Under state law enacted through HB 46, these facilities must be approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety and can maintain product inventory overnight. This allows patients to obtain their medication the same day, rather than relying on products transported from a central facility.
The newly opened satellite locations are in Plano at 601 West 15th Street and in San Antonio at 1464 Austin Highway. Pickup sites are now operating in Lubbock at 421 Frankford Avenue, Nacogdoches at 1320 North University Drive and Tyler at 11980 Highway 64 East.
With the new additions, Texas Original now operates four approved satellite locations across the state and a total of 14 pickup sites. The company says the growing network is designed to improve patient access in a state where medical marijuana distribution remains tightly regulated and geographically limited.
Company CEO Nico Richardson said the expansion reflects a continued focus on improving access for patients who rely on medical marijuana for treatment.
“Strengthening access to safe, reliable medical marijuana remains our driving mission,” Richardson said. “These new locations allow more Texans to receive their medicine locally, reflecting our commitment to serving patients in every corner of the state.”
The expansion follows the recent opening of the company’s 75,000-square-foot production facility in Bastrop, which significantly increased cultivation and manufacturing capacity. Texas Original says the larger facility will support its growing distribution network as the patient population within the Compassionate Use Program continues to increase.
The company also recently introduced the state’s first medical marijuana concentrate products, including oral RSO and distillate syringes designed for patient use.
