Washington D.C.’s medical marijuana market brought in $8,521,316 in sales in February, according to a newly released report from the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration. That’s a sharp increase from the $4,611,846 sold in February 2025, marking a year-over-year gain of roughly 84.8%. The increase came even though sales dipped slightly from January, when the district recorded $8,741,275 in total sales. Still, the year-over-year growth is significant and points to a much larger market than the one in place just a year earlier.

Dispensaries accounted for the largest portion of February 2026 sales at $5,463,268 (up from $2,811,509 in February 2025). Manufacturers generated $2,267,065, while cultivation centers brought in $790,983. Among retailers, flower remained the top-selling category at $2,911,413, followed by vape cartridges at $973,223 and infused edibles at $660,750.

The report also shows notable growth in the broader patient system. Total unique patients were listed at 104,433 in February, compared to 33,540 in February 2025. However, much of that increase appears tied to the district’s self-certification and temporary patient structure rather than just traditional resident patients alone.

Even so, the sales growth is substantial. Sales involving self-certified temporary patients reached $1,645,883 in February 2026, compared to $729,823 during the same month last year. D.C. resident sales also rose, climbing from $2,984,704 in February 2025 to $3,423,281 in February 2026.

Taken together, the numbers show that D.C.’s medical marijuana market generated far more revenue this February than it did a year ago, with strong gains across key segments helping push total sales well above the levels seen in early 2025.
