According to newly released data, marijuana sales in March reached $48,113,535.59 across 1,203,777 transactions. Adult-use purchases made up the bulk of that figure, accounting for $37,903,986.42, while medical marijuana sales totaled $10,209,549.18.

New Mexico legalized marijuana for adult use in 2021, with licensed retail sales beginning in April 2022. State law allows adults 21 and older to possess up to two ounces of marijuana, along with up to 16 grams of concentrates and 800 milligrams of infused products. Marijuana purchases are subject to the state’s standard gross receipts tax, with an additional excise tax that started at 12% and is set to gradually increase to 18% over time.
