Maryland Marijuana Sales Top $100 Million in March as 2026 Total Reaches $292 Million

Key Points
  • Maryland’s legal marijuana market reached $100.9 million in sales in March 2026, contributing to a year-to-date total of $292 million, marking a 4.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
  • In March, approximately $82 million came from adult-use sales, while $18 million was generated from medical cannabis.
  • Despite a more than 10% drop in average prices—from $8.72 to $7.84 per gram—overall revenue grew due to increased demand and higher sales volumes.
  • Maryland legalized adult-use marijuana in November 2022, with sales starting July 2023; the state imposes a 9% sales tax on retail purchases, funding community reinvestment, public health, and local governments.

Maryland’s legal marijuana market brought in $100,878,456 in sales in March, pushing the state’s year-to-date total for 2026 to $292 million and continuing a steady upward trend despite a notable drop in prices.

Of the March total, roughly $82 million came from the adult-use market, with $18 million coming from medical cannabis sales. The latest figures from the Maryland Cannabis Administration also put Maryland’s 2026 total through the first three months of the year 4.5% higher than the roughly $280 million sold during the same period in 2025.

The increase is particularly notable given that prices have continued to fall. The average price for a gram of dried flower is now $7.84, down from $8.72 a year ago. That represents a drop of more than 10%, meaning consumers are paying less even as the market continues to generate more revenue overall.

The numbers indicate that demand remains strong, with increased volume helping offset lower prices. That’s a significant sign for Maryland’s marijuana industry, which appears to be maintaining momentum even as the market becomes more competitive and pricing continues to normalize.

Maryland voters approved marijuana legalization in November 2022, with adult-use sales officially launching on July 1, 2023, when existing medical dispensaries began serving recreational consumers. Under state law, adults 21 and older can possess up to 1.5 ounces of marijuana, or up to 12 grams of concentrates, with additional amounts allowed if secured at home. Retail marijuana purchases are subject to a 9% state sales tax, with revenue distributed to community reinvestment, public health programs, and local governments.
