According to the latest state figures from the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services, adult-use marijuana sales totaled $119.15 million during the month, the highest monthly total since legal sales launched in the state. Medical marijuana sales added another $11.94 million, bringing the combined monthly total to $131.09 million.
The strong March performance also helped push Missouri’s first-quarter total well above where it stood a year ago. Through the first three months of 2026, the state recorded $376.55 million in combined marijuana sales. That’s roughly $16 million more than the $360.44 million sold during the same period in 2025, continuing the state’s steady year-over-year growth despite increased competition in several mature legal markets around the country.
The new recreational record is another sign that Missouri’s adult-use industry remains on an upward trajectory more than three years after voters approved legalization. While medical marijuana continues to account for a meaningful share of the market, adult-use purchases make up the overwhelming majority of total sales.
Missouri voters legalized recreational marijuana in November 2022 through Amendment 3, and the state’s first licensed adult-use stores opened in February 2023. Under state law, adults 21 and older can legally possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana. Recreational marijuana is subject to a 6% state tax, with local governments allowed to add their own taxes. Medical marijuana is taxed at the state level at 4%.
