Glass House Brands has applied to register certain California-licensed medical marijuana operations with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), following the recent move to reschedule medical marijuana to Schedule III under the federal Controlled Substances Act.
The company announced Wednesday that it submitted applications under the expedited registration pathway established by DEA as part of the Schedule III reclassification. The process allows eligible state-licensed medical marijuana operators to apply for federal registration during a 60-day window.
According to Glass House, medical marijuana dispensaries that register with DEA during that window may continue operating under Schedule III while the agency processes their applications.
The announcement marks another example of a major state-licensed marijuana company publicly moving to take advantage of the new federal registration process created through rescheduling, following companies like Trulieve. Glass House said the applications cover certain medical marijuana operations in California, where the company has built a large vertically integrated footprint.
Glass House is one of the largest marijuana companies operating in California, with brands that include Glass House Farms, PLUS Products, Allswell and Mama Sue Wellness. The company also operates retail locations under banners such as The Farmacy, Natural Healing Center and The Pottery.
Glass House said it will discuss medical marijuana rescheduling, along with its recent financial results, during its first quarter investor call scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
