- The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission will hold its first EquityWorks Virtual Cannabis Career Fair on May 20, connecting job seekers with over 50 licensed marijuana businesses for job opportunities, career guidance, and application support.
- The event expands on the EquityWorks Career Hub, a digital platform launched in 2025 offering job listings, networking, training resources, and recruitment tools for the state’s regulated cannabis market.
- A panel discussion on equity hiring and the future of marijuana in Massachusetts, moderated by podcast host Nairoby Sanchez, will take place at 1 p.m. during the career fair.
- EquityWorks aims to support participation from communities disproportionately affected by marijuana prohibition by linking Social Equity Program and Certified Economic Empowerment Priority Applicants with employers, promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry.
Massachusetts marijuana regulators will host their first EquityWorks Virtual Cannabis Career Fair on May 20, offering job seekers a chance to connect with licensed businesses, receive career guidance and learn more about opportunities in the state’s legal marijuana industry.
The event, hosted by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 50 registered marijuana businesses. Attendees will be able to view job postings, submit applications, take part in employer-hosted information sessions and receive help with resumes, job searches and EquityWorks accounts.
The virtual fair is an expansion of the EquityWorks Career Hub, which the commission launched in 2025 as a free digital resource for job seekers and businesses in the regulated market. The platform includes job listings, networking tools, training resources, recruitment booths, live interviews and a calendar of industry events.
“The Commission is happy to host business owners and job seekers for this important engagement as we continue to enhance the EquityWorks Career Hub with new features,” Executive Director Travis Ahern said. “It’s an exciting time to get involved in the regulated Massachusetts marketplace as it continues to grow with new developments like forthcoming social consumption licenses, recent legislation that will open new opportunities for equity participants in the industry, and the federal rescheduling of medical marijuana.”
A speaking program will begin at 1 p.m., featuring a panel discussion moderated by “Power to the Flower” podcast host Nairoby Sanchez. The discussion will focus on equity hiring in the industry and the future of marijuana in Massachusetts.
As of April, Massachusetts had more than 687 operating adult-use Marijuana Establishments and 93 Medical Marijuana Establishments, with another 663 businesses moving through the commission’s licensing pipeline after receiving either provisional approval or a final license. Around 20,000 registered agents support the state’s medical and adult-use markets.
The commission says EquityWorks was created to support participation in the regulated industry, particularly for communities disproportionately impacted by marijuana prohibition. The platform also helps connect Social Equity Program participants and Certified Economic Empowerment Priority Applicants with employers.
More than 1,100 people have participated in the Social Equity Program, which provides free technical training, expedited licensing review, fee waivers and exclusive access to delivery licenses and forthcoming social consumption licenses. The EquityWorks platform allows job seekers to self-identify their SEP or EEA status, helping businesses hire from the state’s equity programs while advancing Positive Impact Plans and Diversity Plans.
