New Mexico marijuana retailers sold $48.7 million worth of products in April, bringing the state’s 2026 total to nearly $200 million.

According to newly released data from the Regulation & Licensing Department, April sales reached $48,723,768.70, with adult-use marijuana accounting for $38,345,172.02 of that total. Medical marijuana sales accounted for $10,378,596.66.

There were 1,204,900 marijuana transactions in April, including 998,197 adult-use transactions and 206,703 medical marijuana transactions.

All-time marijuana sales in New Mexico have now reached $2,260,629,834.05. Adult-use sales account for $1,637,503,202.17 of that total, while medical marijuana sales have reached $623,126,655.01.

The state has also now surpassed a major transaction milestone, with all-time marijuana transactions topping 50 million in April, ending the month at 50,696,093. Adult-use transactions stand at 39,106,647, while medical marijuana transactions have totaled 12,484,199.

New Mexico legalized adult-use marijuana in April 2021, with the first licensed recreational marijuana sales beginning April 1, 2022. Adults 21 and older may possess up to two ounces of marijuana, 16 grams of extract and 800 milligrams of edible marijuana. Adult-use marijuana is currently subject to a 13% cannabis excise tax through June 30, increasing to 14% on July 1, in addition to applicable gross receipts taxes. Medical marijuana sales remain exempt from the cannabis excise tax.
