New Jersey’s legal marijuana market recorded $108,903,170 in adult-use sales in April, a new monthly high.

The April total represents a 20% increase from April 2025, when licensed retailers sold $90,785,383 worth of recreational marijuana, according to new data released by the state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission. It also follows $105,619,747 in sales in March, $94,802,746 in February and $103,421,565 in January.

Altogether, New Jersey adult-use marijuana retailers have sold $412,747,228 worth of products through the first four months of 2026.

The state’s market has continued to grow alongside its expanding licensing system. New Jersey now lists 564 operational cannabis business licenses, including 323 adult-use retailers and 57 medical dispensaries.

The state also has 61 operational adult-use cultivators, 76 adult-use manufacturers, six adult-use wholesalers, three adult-use distributors and two adult-use delivery licenses. On the medical side, New Jersey lists 16 cultivators and 12 manufacturers, along with eight testing labs.

New Jersey voters approved recreational marijuana legalization in November 2020, with lawmakers later passing implementing legislation signed into law in February 2021. The state’s first licensed adult-use stores opened on April 21, 2022. Adults 21 and older may possess up to six ounces of marijuana. Recreational marijuana purchases are subject to the state’s 6.625% sales tax, while local governments may impose a transfer tax of up to 2%. Adult-use marijuana is also subject to the state’s Social Equity Excise Fee.
