Florida Medical Cannabis Sales Near 8.7 Billion mg of THC in 2026, Smokable Sales Approach 3 Million Ounces

Florida medical marijuana patients purchased more than 438 million milligrams of THC and over 150,000 ounces of smokable marijuana during the latest weekly reporting period, pushing 2026 totals closer to two major milestones.
The newest Office of Medical Marijuana Use update, covering May 15 through May 21, shows 438,143,326 milligrams of THC dispensed by medical marijuana treatment centers, along with 150,616.537 ounces of marijuana in a form for smoking.
Combined with previously reported 2026 totals, Florida dispensaries have now sold 8,668,224,032 milligrams of THC and 2,933,937.874 ounces of smokable marijuana this year.
The state’s patient count also continued to rise, with 928,262 active qualified patients as of May 22, up from 926,787 in the prior weekly report.
The report also lists two newly approved dispensary locations: Ayr Cannabis Dispensary in Brandon and Goldflower Cannabis in Tallahassee. Their addition brings the statewide total to 765 approved dispensing locations.
Trulieve remained the dominant seller for the week, dispensing 117,868,565 milligrams of THC and 52,556.699 ounces of smokable marijuana across 169 locations. MÜV followed with 51,855,471 milligrams of THC and 18,063.055 ounces, while Curaleaf reported 48,175,613 milligrams of THC and 15,846.972 ounces.
Ayr Cannabis Dispensary sold 36,799,650 milligrams of THC and 8,853.442 ounces, followed by Surterra Wellness with 34,357,091 milligrams of THC and 7,740.781 ounces.
Florida voters legalized medical marijuana in 2016 through Amendment 2. The state’s program is vertically integrated, with licensed medical marijuana treatment centers authorized to cultivate, process and dispense products. Patients are generally limited to 2.5 ounces of smokable marijuana every 35 days unless a physician approves an exemption, and Florida does not impose a statewide excise tax on medical marijuana.
