Georgia House Passes Resolution Recognizing and Commending Medical Marijuana Therapeutics

The Georgia House of Representatives on Friday approved a resolution recognizing and commending Medical Marijuana Therapeutics, a Georgia-founded medical cannabis practice.

House Resolution 24, filed during the 2026 first special session, was introduced by State Representatives Karen Lupton, Shea Roberts, Marvin Lim and Long Tran. According to the state’s legislative tracking page, the resolution was placed in the House hopper, given its first reading, and adopted by the House on June 20.

The resolution describes Medical Marijuana Therapeutics as a family-owned and operated medical cannabis practice led by a Georgia-licensed medical doctor, focused on improving the quality of life for patients throughout the state. It states that since 2019, the practice has “distinguished itself” through patient-centered certification services, compassionate treatment, clinical professionalism and support for people with complex and chronic medical conditions.

The resolution specifically recognizes Dr. Madelaine Murad, the practice’s chief medical officer, for reviewing patients’ medical histories, medications and prior treatment experiences in order to develop cannabis treatment plans. It also recognizes Vicki Jacobson, chief operating officer and practice director, for helping create a supportive environment for patients and leading outreach efforts, particularly among seniors.

Melanie Jacobson, the practice’s cannabis consultant, is also commended in the resolution for combining patient advocacy, education and personal understanding to help patients navigate medical cannabis treatment.

The measure says Medical Marijuana Therapeutics has prioritized long-term doctor-patient relationships based on trust, individualized care and medical guidance. It also notes that the practice provides education on cannabis medicine and the endocannabinoid system, medication interaction reviews, guidance on products and dosing, and customized treatment plans intended to emphasize safe and responsible therapeutic use.

The resolution further states that the practice has expanded access through statewide telemedicine services, helping patients across Georgia receive medically supervised cannabis-related care regardless of geographic barriers.

With the resolution’s passage, the House formally recognized Medical Marijuana Therapeutics for its contributions to patient safety, education, access and responsible cannabis guidance in Georgia.
