Florida Medical Marijuana Sales Reach Record $198.2 Million in July, Near $1.2 Billion in 2026

Florida’s licensed medical marijuana dispensaries generated $198,209,750 in sales in July, setting a new monthly record, according to data from the research firm Headset.

July’s total surpassed the previous record of $179.7 million, set in April, by approximately $18.5 million, or 10.3%. Sales also increased by nearly $37.8 million compared with the $160.4 million recorded in June.

The new record brings Florida’s medical marijuana sales to approximately $1.19 billion through the first seven months of 2026.

Sales began the year at $162.2 million in January before falling to $148.4 million in February. The market rebounded to $168.6 million in March and reached $179.7 million in April. Dispensaries subsequently generated $169.3 million in May and $160.4 million in June before experiencing the record-setting surge in July.

Florida initially legalized limited low-THC medical cannabis in 2014. Trulieve opened the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary in Tallahassee on July 26, 2016. Later that year, voters approved Amendment 2, expanding the program to allow full-strength medical marijuana for patients with debilitating health conditions.

Under current law, qualified patients may possess no more than a 70-day supply of marijuana and generally no more than four ounces of marijuana in a form for smoking at one time. Dispensaries may provide up to 2.5 ounces of smokable marijuana during each 35-day period, although physicians can request exceptions from the Florida Department of Health.

Medical marijuana and marijuana delivery devices are exempt from Florida sales and use taxes, resulting in a 0% state retail sales tax rate for qualified patients.
