Province of Canada — which manufactures most of its apparel in Toronto — takes pride in putting grown up quality into its smaller sizes. The sweatshirts and sweatpants from the brand led by married pair Julie Brown and Jeremy Watt are available in forest (pictured), heather grey, eggshell, French blue and dusk hues, and feature embroidered watermark logos. Cozy Wide Leg Mini Mioche $68

Let’s face it: Wide leg pants are here to stay. Kids get their own comfy take on the trend with these soft 100 per cent organic cotton French terry pants featuring that modern, slouchy look. Ethically made in Toronto and Montreal with non-toxic dyes and no heavy chemicals, the Cozy Wide Leg comes in shades of clay (pictured), blossom, heather grey, vintage plum, black and navy. Matching hoodie ($80) optional but why not opt for the set? (Sizes 1-14)

Multicolor Striped Knit Sweater Souris Mini $54.95

This vibrant striped sweater has class picture day written all over it. Quebec brand Souris Mini — which has been designing children’s wear since 1989 — created this chic, preppy pullover with comfort in mind (it’s 100 per cent cotton). But with its fall tones and trendy crew shape, we’d put forth the argument that style had something to do with it as well. (Sizes 4-12)

Bamboo Kaia Dress Little and Lively $74.99

The transition from summer to fall ’fits doesn’t have to be all long sleeves and wool. Case in point: This adorably sweet daytime dress from B.C. brand Little and Lively. Double knit for durability and super stretchy to accommodate growth spurts, the 66 per cent rayon from bamboo, 25 per cent cotton and six per cent Spandex frock cutely called Kaia is perfect for playing on balmy September days and can be paired with tights and a cardigan when the temperature turns. Little and Lively manufactures its items right in Abbotsford and Vancouver. (Sizes 7-14)

Vintage Varsity Jacket 2.0 Roots $498

Is there any jacket more synonymous with school than the varsity jacket? This stinking cute pre-high school version of the classic from Roots is proudly designed and handcrafted in the company’s Toronto factory. It features a melton wool blend with 100 per cent leather sleeves and pocket trim, viscose and polyester linings and a ribbed collar, cuffs and waistband. The snap front closure is kid friendly, ditto the soft chenille crests on the front chest, sleeve and back. Yes it’s an investment, but try sizing up to ensure the never-out-of-style piece stays in their closet for more than one season. (Sizes 5-14)
