The Alaska Marijuana Control Board adjourned Thursday following an over eight-hour meeting without voting on a proposal that would eliminate the state’s daily purchase limits for marijuana concentrates and total THC.
Board Chair Bailey Stuart said she plans to call a special meeting before the board’s next regularly scheduled bimonthly meeting in November, leaving the proposal alive for consideration in the coming weeks.
Under current regulations, licensed marijuana stores may not sell a person more than seven grams of marijuana concentrate for inhalation or more than 5,600 milligrams of THC in combined marijuana and marijuana product purchases per day.
The proposal before the board would repeal both restrictions by removing sections 3 AAC 306.355(a)(2) and (3). Alaska’s separate limit of one ounce of usable marijuana per person per day would remain in place.
The proposal is part of the Marijuana Control Board’s broader AO-360 regulatory reform effort, which has involved reviewing numerous sections of Alaska’s marijuana regulations. The September 2 and 3 meeting agenda included dozens of regulatory items, including proposed changes involving testing, packaging and labeling, inventory tracking, advertising and quantity limits.
No date has yet been announced for the planned special meeting.
The Marijuana Control Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for November 18 and 19 in Anchorage.
