Missouri regulators have released the results of the state’s third marijuana microbusiness licensing lottery, with approximately 77 licenses expected to be issued beginning in December.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced today that its Division of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) posted the lottery results after receiving 888 applications during the July 13 through July 27 application period.
The drawing marks the third of three microbusiness licensing rounds required under Article XIV, Section 2 of the Missouri Constitution. Approximately 20 of the licenses available in this round stem from licenses revoked for rule violations or surrendered following earlier rounds.
Selection through the lottery does not guarantee that an applicant will receive a license. DCR will now review the selected applications to determine whether they meet eligibility requirements.
The Missouri Lottery conducted the drawing using unique application identifiers rather than applicants’ identities. Each applicant received their identifier by email before the drawing, a process the department said was intended to protect the integrity of the selection.
Detailed information about the selected applicants was not immediately available. DCR said it will cross-reference the lottery results with submitted application records and make additional information public in the coming weeks.
Applicants who were not selected can request a refund of their original application fee, subject to certain conditions. To qualify, applicants must certify that they met the licensing criteria and have no pending or future litigation related to the denial of their application.
The refund request form will become available on the department’s website 30 days after all microbusiness licenses from the third round have been issued.
