Massachusetts Marijuana Sales Top $1.25 Billion in 2026, All-Time Sales Reach $11.66 Billion as Prices Hit Record Low

Massachusetts marijuana retailers have generated approximately $1.26 billion in combined recreational and medical sales so far in 2026, while all-time sales have climbed to roughly $11.66 billion.

Data from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission shows adult-use retailers recorded approximately $1.16 billion in sales from January 1 through September 6. Medical marijuana sales totaled another $98.7 million during the same period.

Adult-use sales reached $135.5 million in January, $124.4 million in February, $136 million in March, $137.9 million in April and $144.2 million in May. Sales climbed to $156.4 million in June, followed by $149.3 million in July and $144.9 million in August. Another $30.2 million was reported during the first six days of September.

Medical marijuana sales have remained relatively steady throughout the year, ranging from roughly $11 million to $13 million during each full month. September medical sales totaled about $2.6 million through September 6.

Massachusetts has now generated approximately $10.01 billion in adult-use marijuana sales since recreational stores opened in November 2018. Medical marijuana sales over that period total approximately $1.65 billion, bringing combined all-time marijuana sales to about $11.66 billion.

The sales totals come as marijuana prices continue falling to record lows.

Commission data shows the average retail price has dropped to a new all-time low of $3.81 per gram, equivalent to $108.01 per ounce.
