This role ensures optimal plant health, yield, and quality through adherence to best practices, proper scheduling, and team leadership. The Head Grower is accountable for delivering consistent production targets while overseeing the Fertigation/IPM, Flower, and Veg departments.

This position is highly hands-on, requiring strong cultivation expertise, team leadership skills, and a data-driven approach to optimizing the cultivation environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO


  • Oversee the entire cultivation process, from propagation through harvest, ensuring plant health and maximum yield.
  • Implement, monitor, and optimize cultivation schedules, workflows, and protocols based on best practices and facility goals.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and Good Agricultural Practices.
  • Monitor environmental controls, nutrient delivery systems, pest management, and plant health metrics to optimize output.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Director of Cultivation on operational improvements and new methodologies.
  • Directly supervise, develop, and hold accountable the following cultivation leaders: Fertigation/IPM Manager, Flower Manager, Veg Manager
  • Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to the cultivation team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain detailed records of cultivation activities, plant health metrics, yields, and environmental conditions.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to monitor performance and inform decisions.
  • Ensure proper documentation for regulatory compliance, audits, and internal reporting.
  • Manage the cultivation department budget, including labor, supplies, nutrients, and equipment.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing product quality or compliance.
  • Plan for and coordinate future capacity and resource needs.
  • Work closely with Post-Harvest, Processing, and Operations teams to ensure smooth production handoffs.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic projects, expansion plans, and cultivation innovations.
  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • 5+ years of commercial cannabis cultivation experience, including leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of plant science, integrated pest management, fertigation systems, and environmental controls.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage large cultivation teams in a production-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing cultivation budgets and resources.
  • Familiarity with state cannabis regulations, seed-to-sale tracking systems, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in analyzing cultivation data and adjusting processes accordingly.
  • Degree in horticulture, plant science, agronomy, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience implementing and scaling commercial cultivation operations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
