Staff Accountant is a permanent part-time, hourly non-exempt position within the Terrapin Beer Company Accounting Department that is responsible for the timely and accurate payment of all vendor and client invoices. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will be involved in accounting transaction entry and posting, local banking. The incumbent will report directly to the Controller. The starting pay for this role is USD $16.00 per hour, with a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week, depending on brewery hours/needs.
- Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. This includes matching inventory related invoices to packing slips and inventory posting to ensure accuracy.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure accurate invoice pricing and receipt of goods.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting theories and practices.
- Receive daily incoming checks and appropriately create deposits.
- Answers all vendor inquiries received by phone or through the accounts payable email account. This includes receiving invoices and routing for approval, specific vendor reconciliation questions and reviewing vendor statements for accuracy and to verify receipt of documents.
- Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.
- Assists Senior Management with ad hoc reporting requests, or other general inquiries, as needed. Works diligently to support the team during monthly closings and both quarterly and year-end reporting.
- Research and resolve basic questions related to general ledger items.
- Maintain general ledger and accounts payable subsidiary ledger accounts.
- Perform monthly audits of the fixed assets general ledger accounts, including monthly reporting of additions and recording monthly depreciation/amortization.
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Must be able to work at least 20 hours a week and be able to work varying shifts dependent on operational business needs of the brewery.

- Actively obtaining or possessing a Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business. Must be self-motivated, have excellent written skills, verbal communication, and strong leadership skills.
- This position also requires excellent time management skills as well as very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Candidates must be proficient in MS Office software including Excel and Word
