Job Overview
The Senior EHS Technician is a key company position and will assist EHS leadership with the re-design and implementation of our EHS programs at Charlotte’s Web. This position will have an environmental focus, however, and will partner with the EHS leadership in helping to implement, and lead and champion EHS-initiatives at the facility. This position will also have Sanitation Supervisor (Leadership) to continually maintain stringent cleanliness standards within the (Good Manufacturing Practices) GMP and our SOP framework within the facility as well as interdepartmental responsibility on the facilities outside. The EHS Technician Senior will also monitor and lead initiatives in respect to Air Permitting, Storm Water and other environmental protocol to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Aid in the development, improvement, implementation, and execution together with leadership of any applicable EHS programs
- Work toward becoming an EHS Subject Matter Expert for the Louisville facility with the ability to coach leadership and the organization; leading them toward successful and practical EHS recommendations and directives, to help ensure everyone’s safety a well as their environmental responsibilities
- Champions hygienic cleanness inside the facility and works interdepartmentally on cleanliness outside the facility.
- Develop and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and sanitation records to applicable laws and regulations, customer requirements, and third-party needs
- Collaboratively collaborate with chemical suppliers to provide proper choice and procedure of cleaning compounds or agents, and lead in our chemical approval process and maintain Louisville’s Master SDS List
- Manages Charlotte’s Webs LOFT Pest Control Program and implements corrective actions if/when needed
- Maintaining the Environment Monitoring program, collecting environmental surface samples, and reporting monthly report for review per SOP and assisting in resolving any deficiencies
- Manages sanitation tool inventory and supplies and various chemical inventory
- Performs routine audits on process equipment related to safety and to an environmentally cleanliness one.
- Assists in incident investigation, counter measuring, and resolution of any EHS issues. Then, follow-up with post-inspections to ensure resolutions are effective per GMP, SOP, OHSA, and EPA protocol
- Conducts sanitation safety training for new employees, and coordinates with Document Control that all training documentation is accurate and complete
- Manages third party cleaning services’ scope of work, coordinating with document control that all applicable training and documentation are completed per cGMP, GDP
- Assists with Local, State, and Federal Environmental permitting
- Responsible for EHS related emergency stations such as spill kits, emergency shower/eyewash stations fire extinguishers, fume hoods, etc.
- Responsible for all hazardous waste material handling and disposal, in compliance with the 180 Hazardous Waste Accumulation Management and documentation.
- Facilitates Charlotte’s Webs EHS Environmental Sustainability Programs
- Assists in PM scheduling/implementation, and risk assessment on new and existing equipment
- Manages and facilitates respiratory protection equipment, coordination, FIT Testing, and training for all applicable employee company wide
- Coordinates with Quality Control and Research & Development for lab pack chemical disposal
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements: Education:
- Associate in applied science degree in Environmental Science or Safety Technology; Bachelors preferred
Experience:
- 2 - 3 years environmental experience or closely related role, preferred
- Experience working with operations/manufacturing teams is a plus
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Registered Hazardous Substance Professional preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800 Certifications preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Familiarity with federal OSHA laws and regulations.
- Excellent people skills, with expertise to work in interdepartmental teams.
