Job Summary:
The Quality and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Technician plays a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of cannabis products. This position involves monitoring both quality assurance and EHS practices throughout the production process, ensuring that cannabis products meet all required safety and quality standards. The technician will perform assessments, verify finished product compliance with specifications, and maintain records to ensure adherence to internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and evaluate cannabis process controls at various production stages (goods receipt, cultivation, post-harvest, bulk flower, packaging, etc.), ensuring compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and product specifications.
- Conduct assessments to determine product quality, potency, and safety throughout cultivation, post-harvest, and finished goods assembly, including product labeling and fulfillment.
- Manage test coordination and stay up to date with local and state regulations related to cannabis testing and quality control. Ensuring all testing activities comply with relevant legal and industry requirements.
- Organize and coordinate internal and external materials and scheduling for state regulated sampling and testing activities.
- Perform cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance checks and facility audits, ensuring adherence to regulations and quality standards.
- Oversee environmental, chemical, pest, and sanitation monitoring, ensuring that all systems remain compliant with safety protocols.
- Participate in recording data and conducting root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality or safety issues.
- Operate and maintain various testing equipment, including ATP, PAR, CO2 meters, and other analytical tools, to monitor and verify product quality and safety.
- Ensure that all quality and safety records and documentation are maintained in compliance with both regulatory and internal standards.
- Assist in maintaining and updating quality control and EHS programs, including SOPs, SDS', and monitoring process conditions for both quality and safety.
- Stay informed on local and state cannabis testing and regulatory standards to ensure all activities comply with legal requirements.
- Follow strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety guidelines to protect against potential hazards in the workplace.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to be badged for work in a cannabis facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cannabis, food, or pharmaceutical cultivation or manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with cannabis and its compounds is a plus.
- Knowledge of quality control, EHS principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
- Ability to thrive in a highly regulated and compliant environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities related to equipment and processes.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.
