If you are a self-starter, passionate, you have excellent attention to detail, and are a team player, then this is the job for you! As the R&D Technician, you will be closely working with the R&D team together, ensuring that the High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) equipment is run professionally, and R&D plants are monitored and evaluated properly. You will participate in R&D meetings, and are expected to deliver progress reports in a professional manner. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
 
This position is based out of Kingsville, Ontario.
 
What you’ll be doing:
  • Operating HPLC equipment proficiently and adhering to established protocols, encompassing sample preparation and analysis. Ensure the consistent maintenance and calibration of HPLC instruments.
  • Recording and reporting HPLC results accurately and in a prompt manner to the R&D team and clients.
  • Troubleshooting and promptly addressing any issues related to HPLC equipment.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate HPLC data into overarching research findings.
  • Overseeing and monitoring R&D plants within a spacious greenhouse environment. Documenting observations and maintaining open communication with the off-site R&D team.
  • Coordinating with members of the Cronos GrowCo team to facilitate the shipment of relevant biomass to the R&D team.
  • Writing comprehensive technical reports and effectively communicating research findings, scientific insights, and recommendations to peers.
  • Other duties as required to support the organization.
You’ll need to have:
  • 2+ years lab experience preferably in an R&D setting and experience operating HPLC equipment
  • Graduates from a B.Sc. and M.Sc. program in Horticulture, Micro-Biology, Plant Agriculture, Plant Biology, Ecology, Botany, Plant Pathology and related will be considered
  • Experience in plant and/or horticultural science, involvement in R&D projects is an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and handle and understanding of scientific methodologies
  • Understanding of plant production systems in controlled environments, greenhouses, growth chambers, is an asset
  • Experience with cannabis desired but not required
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to drive decision-making and effectively work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Scientific curiosity, personal drive and networking abilities to find breakthrough technologies, product improvements and leading methods
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
