JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all cannabis cultivation, harvest, and post-harvest processes meet state regulatory requirements, company SOPs, and industry best practices. This role supervises QA staff, manages compliance documentation, and conducts audits to maintain product quality and facility sanitation. The QA Supervisor partners closely with cultivation and processing teams to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong regulatory knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to foster a culture of compliance and quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight - Ensure all cultivation and post-harvest operations comply with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) cannabis regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company SOPs.
- Quality Monitoring & Audits - Lead routine QA inspections of cultivation, harvest, and post-harvest areas; document findings; and enforce corrective actions.
- Team Leadership - Supervise, train, and support QA technicians to meet performance expectations and maintain accountability.
- Documentation & Reporting - Maintain accurate and timely records for audits, deviations, corrective actions (CAPA), and regulatory submissions.
- Continuous Improvement - Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement process improvements to strengthen product quality and compliance.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITES
- Prepare for and support state regulatory inspections (CCC, DPH) and internal audits.
- Verify calibration and proper use of QA monitoring equipment.
- Train employees across departments on SOPs, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with product quality complaints, investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Promote workplace culture centered on safety, sanitation, compliance, and integrity.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 21+ years of age and able to pass a background check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a state-issued Registered Agent Card.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of QA, compliance, or regulatory experience in cannabis, agriculture, food production, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of cannabis regulations, GMP, HACCP, and sanitation protocols.
- Strong supervisory experience with proven ability to train, lead, and hold team members accountable.
- Excellent recordkeeping, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to identify risks, conduct investigations, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in biology, horticulture, agronomy, food science, or related field.
- Prior cannabis QA or cultivation experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., Metrc, BioTrack).
- Experience in regulatory audits, writing technical reports, and managing CAPAs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QA data management systems.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or after-hours for regulatory audits or inspections.
