Sanctuary Medicinals is seeking a highly competent, driven, and diligent candidate for a Laboratory Manager role in our Lab Department. Laboratory Manager is responsible for day-to-day lab operations including planning, organizing, directing, communicating, and executing extractions. This individual is responsible for all operations pertaining to the extraction lab from receiving biomass to final product formulations and packaging. Laboratory Manager is the main resource for the Lab Leads and Lab Technicians working to perform daily duties.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversees, trains, and assists Lab Technicians in operating, maintaining, cleaning, safety standards, cGMP, policies, and procedures for all aspects of extraction, refinement, and distillation of cannabinoids.

• Continuously improving extraction, refinement, and distillation processes, throughput, and systems efficiencies.

• Provide leadership to ensure that safety and company policies are adhered to consistently and effectively.

• Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.

• Effectively communicate results to both technical and non-technical personnel.

• Interact with team members to address technical or regulatory questions and provide solutions to problems.

• Initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational policies and procedures, and cGMP requirements.

• Apply scientific techniques, procedures, or methodologies to complete tasks.

• Maintains compliance with laws, regulations, cGMP, OSHA safety standards, and our policies and procedures.

• Maintains accountability and inventory of all raw materials, finished products, by-products, and waste of the extraction process.

• Leads and/or provides guidance in the creation of and revision to Standard Operating Procedures and Batch Manufacturing Records.

• Participate in product development and be responsible for supporting future product launches and extraction methods.

• Documenting all processes and assuring up-to-date records of our BMRs, cGMP, BioTrack seed-to-sale system, and other required documentation.

• Execute day-to-day operations at the Production Facility as they pertain to workflow, extraction, analysis, production quotas, and deadlines.

• Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring the work environment.

• Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.

• Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms, and working areas immaculate.

• Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and documents production by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

• Implement, maintain, and record data in our seed-to-sale tracking software (BioTrackTHC).

• Perform other related work as required.

Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, biology, physics, or environmental science.

• At least five (5) years of experience in commercial-scale cannabinoid extraction or compound-specific laboratory practices.

• At least five (5) years of experience supervising laboratory technicians or staff employees in a commercial production environment.

• Ability to pass and maintain all required background checks to work with cannabis.

• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on the demands of the business, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to work extended hours as required, over 40 hours per week.

• Availability via cell phone always during operation is a must.

• Hands-on experience with and detailed knowledge of supercritical extraction, alcohol extraction, BHO, terpene refinement, cannabinoid refinement, and cannabinoid distillation.

• Proficient with various extraction methods and capable of operating and maintaining extraction equipment and machinery. This includes, but not limited to, distillation units, hydrocarbon extractors, Chillers, Heaters, Freezers, vacuum pumps, pot stills, and other extraction-related equipment.

• Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory.

• Thorough understanding of state and local medical marijuana laws and how they apply to the operations.

• Experience with best practices in safety.

• Must be 21 years or older.

• Must Pass Florida background check.

•  Ability to work on your feet most of the day in a fast-paced environment.
