JOB SUMMARY

Extraction Associates are responsible for the production of all marijuana extractions using a variety of equipment and processes. They are responsible for documenting and updating records throughout the process.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT

  • The environment can be very noisy due to specialized machinery, including but not limited to rotary evaporators, fume hoods, exhaust systems, and ovens.
  • The environment is highly sanitized to prevent contamination and operates with precise temperature and humidity controls.
  • The extraction laboratory layout is designed for operational efficiency and precision. It includes different areas for various stages of the extraction process, including but not limited to preparation, extraction, purification, and quality control.
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil.
  • Work is performed in a busy marijuana extraction laboratory that focuses on safety and cleanliness.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out proper disposal processes for extraction and infusion waste.
  • Maintain extraction and infusion equipment as assigned.
  • Operate extraction and infusion equipment, including but not limited to:
  • Rotary evaporators
  • CO₂ extractor
  • Distillation unit
  • Filtering systems
  • Vacuum pumps
  • Automatic processing equipment
  • Tablet presses
  • Ovens
  • Centrifuges
  • Pipettes
  • Safely operate extraction and infusion equipment according to guidelines, using proper PPE and following GMP standards.
  • Perform packaging and proper proportioning of medicinal concentrates.
  • Measure and weigh quantities of medicine accurately.
  • Package and label a variety of medicinal concentrates.
  • Use assigned computer software systems.
  • Work under the direction of the Extraction Manager to extract marijuana concentrates and other preparations safely and accurately.
  • Complete all tasks as assigned by management.
  • Work additional hours as needed.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, stand, or walk for long periods.
  • Must be able to endure extreme lighting conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to perform tedious tasks.
  • Must be able to sustain exposure to extreme noise for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to tolerate strong smells/odors for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer.
  • Must be able to wear hair nets/beard nets, gloves, and a uniform on a daily basis
  • Must be able to work with different compounds including but not limited to powders, liquids, and solids.
  • Must be able to work with marijuana plants and marijuana byproducts for up to ten hours a day.
  • Must be prepared to experience regular physical exposure to wet conditions.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, CO2 machine, RotoVap, and any other extraction equipment in the extraction room.
  • Should be able to handle glassware and other extraction equipment with delicacy and ease.
  • The normal range of hearing & eyesight is required (can be corrected).

  • Must possess the ability to extract cannabinoids through a variety of methods including CO2 extraction and Ethanol washes.
  • Must possess the ability to work within cross-functional teams.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
