Position Overview
The Receiver is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming shipments at the dock. This role ensures that materials, goods, and products are checked for quality and quantity, and are processed into inventory in a timely and organized manner. The Receiver is a key team member in maintaining efficient dock operations and supporting overall warehouse productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming shipments from trucks and other delivery vehicles.
- Inspect goods for damage, verify quantities, and check against packing lists or purchase orders.
- Document and record all received materials accurately in the inventory system.
- Communicate any discrepancies or damages to the Inventory Coordinator or Warehouse Manager immediately.
- Organize and stage products for storage or further distribution within the facility.
- Maintain a clean and safe dock area in accordance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to ensure efficient flow of materials.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles is an asset.
- Must have strong attention to details and organizational skills.
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 40 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge and adherence of safety procedures and protocols in a warehouse setting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with warehouse management systems or inventory software.
- Forklift certification or experience operating pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Working Conditions
The Receiver position requires working in a warehouse and dock environment, which may be subject to varying temperatures and noise. The role may involve lifting, reaching, bending, and standing for long periods. Overtime or flexible hours may be required during peak periods.
